Ukuzithanda&Co
A beauty brand I started in high school. Today it's a salon, a skincare line and a training programme that turns young women into earning beauty professionals in 7 days.
I'm Precious Nkosi, 21, from Pretoria, South Africa. I'm a CA(SA)-stream accounting science student who already holds two government contracts. I founded Ukuzithanda&Co, a beauty brand that trains young women to earn, and I'm building a circular-economy tech startup.
My ventures
A beauty brand that trains women to earn, and a tech startup that keeps goods in circulation. Both are built on the same belief: value should stay in our communities.
A beauty brand I started in high school. Today it's a salon, a skincare line and a training programme that turns young women into earning beauty professionals in 7 days.
A circular-economy platform that keeps valuable goods in use and out of landfill. It was selected in the Top 16 of the Mr Price Foundation programme. Details are shared under NDA only.
Both ventures run under my registered company, P Nkosi Luxe Group (Pty) Ltd. A name change from P Nkosi Luxe Events is in process.
The story
Before the awards and the contracts there was a Grade 2 learner with R20, an empty stomach and a plan. This is how I became who I am.
Grade 2 to Grade 7
In Grade 2 I got R20 for lunch. One day I chose to stay hungry. I spent the whole R20 on twenty lemon ices at R1 each and sold them the next day for R2.50.
That became my business until Grade 7. By then each ice sold for R3.50, and when I was down to my last five and everyone wanted one, the price went to R4.
Grade 9
In Grade 9 I launched a clothing brand. I was popular, everyone wanted to model for it, and an influencer friend offered to post it. I had the hype and the people backing me.
But I didn't know how to manage supply or production. I made enough for one run, then rode on the hype and never produced again. The brand failed.
December 2020 · end of Grade 10
All through 2020 I said I wanted to sell scrunchies. It stayed an idea until December of Grade 10, as schools were closing for the year. That's when I decided to take it seriously.
January 2021 · Grade 11
When I came back to school in January 2021, I started selling every week. The brand was first called Zitande, meaning "love yourself". When I found that name was already registered, I wanted something that was mine alone.
Ukuzithanda means "to love yourself". Nobody had registered it with CIPC, so it became the name I've built on ever since.
High school
On the last day of every month my grandparents gave me my transport fare for the whole of the next month. I wasn't financially disciplined yet, so it was usually gone in the first week.
Weeks two, three and four were on me. I put pressure on myself to sell, and every time I made the money back. On a good week I made R2,000.
2025 to today
I enrolled in the CA(SA) stream at UNISA and registered my company in 2025 with SEDFA's support. At 21, I've won two government contracts, the SAICA #1 Student Leadership Award, and a Top 16 place in the Mr Price Foundation programme.
Venture 01 · Ukuzithanda&Co
Ukuzithanda&Co started with lunch money and my grandmother's sewing machine. I funded the salon with my university book allowance. It now runs as a salon, a retail line and a skills programme for young women in Mamelodi.
How a learner moves through the programme
Trading since 2021. Every product and service has been paid for by real customers, starting with satin bonnets sold between classes.
Venture 02 · In stealth
South African households throw away things other people would gladly use. My platform keeps those goods in circulation, within the networks people already trust, so value stays in families and out of landfill.
I built the first prototype myself using AI tools and am now rebuilding it with developers. The name, the model and the product stay private until they're protected.
P Nkosi Luxe Group (Pty) Ltd
I registered my company in 2025 and learned procurement properly: quotes, SBD forms and compliance. SEDFA, a government agency, has awarded my company two separate purchase orders.

A purchase order from the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA).
A separate SEDFA purchase order to supply catering for an event linked to a Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) programme.
Recognition & leadership
Awards are one kind of proof. The stronger proof is when people go out of their way for you.
My teammate Lehlohonolo Nonyane and I represented UNISA as one of the Top 6 finalist teams in the country, pitching Ukuzithanda&Co's skills programme. We took the top prize.
UNISA then published the story: "Unisa students earn SAICA award for community impact", recognising the project for advancing SDGs 1, 4, 8 and 10.
Back the programme that wonOn the morning of the final judging, Prof. Lethiwe Nzama-Sithole of UNISA's School of Accountancy came 45 kilometres to the SAICA offices to deliver UNISA's gifts in person. That's my reaction on camera.
The finalist announcement, the UNISA gift delivery at SAICA, and UNISA's own article on the win, all published by SAICA and UNISA.
VP of the Accounting Science Student Association (ASSA) and of the ABASA UNISA Chapter. Pictured with the Executive Dean of the College of Accounting Sciences, who has vouched for me personally.
UNISA Radio invited me on air on two separate occasions to talk about studying, money and building a business as a student.
SEDFA invited me to mentor primary school learners on what running a business really involves. The group I mentored competed against the other teams and won. The event was attended by the Minister of Small Business Development, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, whom I met on the day.
Selected for the global leadership programme that was founded at Harvard Business School.
Selected among the top 16 ventures in the Mr Price Foundation programme.
SEDFA helped me register my company, and I work with a dedicated business advisor through their mentorship programme.
Community & audience
I've built two audiences: a community that shares opportunities, and a platform where 18 to 26-year-olds learn about studying, money and business.
I founded SES as a WhatsApp channel sharing bursaries, internships, courses and leadership programmes with UNISA students from every faculty.
Brands I've worked with: Aquafresh
Credentials
I'm studying for a Bachelor of Accounting Science in the CA(SA) stream at UNISA, graduating in 2027. Alongside it, I've completed 16 certified programmes and qualifications.
Where I'm going
So many South African businesses go under because they don't understand tax. I'm going to be the tax guru they never had.
And apply that expertise first to my own businesses.
I want to train professionals and firms to use AI well and to understand the law around AI in accountancy.
Starting with the young women I train, who are gifted with their hands but overlooked by the classroom.
Let's work together
I've been making money since Grade 2 and I'm 21 with two government contracts. Choose what you'd like to talk about and I'll reply personally.
